Andrew Wilson
D. Andrew “Andy” Wilson was sworn-in as
the Prosecuting Attorney for Clark County, Ohio on
January 19, 2011.
Andy was born at Ft. Knox, Kentucky to
David Wilson and Cindi (Beard) Wilson. He was raised in
Clark County, Ohio where his father worked for the Ohio
Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife,
and his mother worked as a nurse at Community Hospital.
Andy and his brothers, Travis and Chad graduated from
Kenton Ridge High School. Two weeks after graduating
high school, Andy left for basic training beginning his
enlistment in the Ohio Army National Guard.
Andy returned from his initial army
training and enrolled at Wright State University where
he studied political science (prelaw emphasis) and
sociology. While attending Wright State University,
Andy won an Army R.O.T.C. scholarship, and after
graduating summa cum laude, he was commissioned
as a second lieutenant in the Ohio Army National Guard.
Lieutenant Wilson was assigned as a scout platoon leader
in an armored cavalry unit and successfully completed
Army airborne training, air assault training, and the
scout platoon leader’s course. While attending Wright
State University, Andy met his wife Libby, and they were
married on July 12, 1997.
While Libby attended medical school at
Wright State University, Andy worked as a juvenile court
probation officer at the Clark County Juvenile Court.
After taking a leave of absence from juvenile court to
attend additional military training, he was accepted to
the University of Dayton School of Law. During law
school, Andy focused on criminal law and trial
practice. He participated in moot court, and wrote a
case note on the Second Amendment for the law review for
which he later won an award from the National Second
Amendment Foundation. Andy graduated cum laude
from law school in May of 2001 and immediately began
working for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office’s
Child Support Enforcement Division.
In March of 2002, Andy began his
employment with the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office.
He initially worked in the civil section representing
the townships and agencies within Clark County. In June
of 2003, Andy was assigned to the criminal division
where he specialized in prosecuting cases involving
violence against women. In January of 2005, Andy was
assigned to the Clark County Child Advocacy Center where
he handled the prosecution of cases involving severe
physical abuse and sexual abuse of children. During his
tenure as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with Clark
County, Andy handled major felony prosecutions including
capital cases, homicides, rapes, and complex or unusual
cases. As the County Prosecutor, he continues to
represent the State of Ohio in homicide and other major
trials.
Andy enjoys his family, exercise,
triathlons, fishing, hunting, outdoor recreation, and
reading. He is a member of the National District
Attorney’s Association, the Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s
Association, and the Clark County Bar Association. He
is on the board of the Clark County Child Advocacy
Center, and the Springfield Triathletes and Area Racers
club. Andy and Libby live in Northridge with their two
daughters.
