Our Office strives to provide the most professional service that our
organization can offer to the citizens of Clark County. The men and
women of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office are dedicated to excellent
service through partnerships that build trust, reduce crime, create a
safe environment and enhance the quality of life in our community
through our core values of Integrity, Courage, Honor, Respect and
Equality.
My office is always trying to develop and implement new ideas to assist
County government as well as saving taxpayer dollars. I have included
within this report our “2008 Statistical Highlight’s”; this will provide
you with a brief description of our activity this past year.
The CALEA Program continued through 2008, which on November 17, 2007,
the Clark County Sheriff’s Office became one of six Sheriff’s Office’s
out of the total of Eighty Eight in the State of Ohio to achieve
National Recognition with the Commission on Accreditation for Law
Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The accreditation process is to develop a
set of law enforcement standards; through which our office can
demonstrate that we meet professionally recognized criteria for
excellence in management and service delivery.
In 2008, the Sheriff’s Office continued the contract with the State of
Ohio Department of Youth Services and the Clark County Juvenile Court,
utilizes deputies to make curfew checks on serious juvenile offenders.
A detailed report is then completed for the court and probation office.
The project is called “Operation Bed Bug”; this is just another tool
that is being used to keep our community safe.
The Sheriff’s Office continued its contract with the partnership
involving the United States Marshal’s Service in ordered to address the
issue of violent offenders who are currently fugitives of Justice. The
Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team or “SOFAST” is a unique
way to combine Federal, State and local law enforcement officers
together to reach one common goal which is to locate and apprehend or
community’s most serious and violent offenders.
