Lieutenant Jonathan "Eric" Holmes
is the Division Commander of the Criminal Investigations
Division. The Criminal Investigations Division consists of
7 Detectives, 1 Detective Sergeant, 1 Deputy assigned to Sex
Offender Registration and Notification “S.O.R.N.” and 3
civilian employees.
Lieutenant Holmes began his career with the Clark County
Sheriff’s Office on August 24, 1989. Lieutenant Holmes a
life long resident of Clark County, a graduate of the Ohio
Peace Officer Training Academy-Clark State Community
College, attended Wright State University and Clark State
Community College majoring in Sociology with an emphasis on
Criminal Justice and he is a 1984 graduate from Shawnee High
School. Lieutenant Holmes has worked in the Jail Division,
Uniform Patrol Division and Community Services Division. He
was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in October 1999; as a
Sheriff’s Sergeant, he served as a supervisor in the City of
New Carlisle, the Uniform Patrol Division and the Criminal
Investigations Division. On July 1, 2008, Lt. Holmes was
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned as the
Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Lieutenant
Holmes has received numerous awards including the
Exceptional Service Award, Meritorious Awards, Homicide
Apprehension Award, Attendance and Service Awards as well as
the Sheriff’s Award, the highest commendation a Clark County
Deputy Sheriff can receive. Lieutenant Holmes has also
received the Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement
Commendation Medal.
Lieutenant Holmes served as a Master
Sergeant in the Air Force Security Police with the 178th
Security Forces Squadron at the Ohio Air National Guard Base
in Springfield. He was called to duty by the Air Force on
September 11, 2001 and spent 1½ years on active duty as part
of Operation Enduring Freedom. Lieutenant Holmes has since
retired from the Security Forces Squadron on January 2005
with 20 years in the Military Service.
Lieutenant Holmes serves as the Honor Guard Commander for
the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and as well a Task Force
Officer with the “Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike
Team, “SOFAST,” with the United States Marshall’s Office.
