Lieutenant John Reedy

 

Lieutenant John Reedy is a 1977 graduate from Northeastern High School and a 1987 graduate from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, Clark State Community College.  In 1997 Lieutenant Reedy obtained his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Clark State Community College.  Lieutenant Reedy began his career with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office May 18, 1987.  Prior to that Lieutenant Reedy investigated narcotic and theft complaints in Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. He was the first officer in the State of Michigan to seize a quantity of, at that time, the new designer drug Extacy causing it to be formally identified and scheduled. 

He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 26, 1998, as a supervisor in the uniform patrol division.

Lieutenant John Reedy has been involved with numerous high profile investigations and arrests. A team player and well thought of among his peers, he is always willing to assist his co-workers or the public in any way.  Lieutenant Reedy has a strong work ethic and always tries to excel in the performance of whatever task he is assigned.  

 In 2005 the Clark County Sheriff’s Office set a goal of National Recognition by the Commission on Accreditation for law Enforcement Agencies.  Lieutenant Reedy was assigned as the Accreditation Manager for this our largest project to date.  This task included a complete re-write of our entire policy and procedure manual, which he completed and reduced to a CD that is issued to every employee upon swearing in.  Lieutenant Reedy facilitated adoption of the ASP baton and Taser as part of the Sheriff’s Office Response to Resistance Continuum.  As a result, reports of officer involved physical conflicts have dropped almost 20%. One of his greatest accomplishments was working with the VERA institute of Justice on a nationwide project to develop a policy on service to people with Limited English Speaking Ability.  He wrote our policy that is now being used as a model by other agencies. He also has administrated several State Correction Academies, serves as range master, weapons instructor, and is currently certified as an instructor with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council in a variety of subjects.

 Lieutenant John Reedy is a (5) time recipient of the Sheriff’s Award the highest commendation a Clark County Deputy Sheriff can receive, for reflecting to the general public, fellow workers and superior officers what a Clark County Deputy should be….”The Best of the Best”.  He has received numerous meritorious service and Exceptional Service commendations, Homicide apprehension, 2007 Rotary Safety Forces award.  John’s personnel file contains numerous letters from other law enforcement agencies and citizens of from Clark County for his professional demeanor and concern for the safety of our community.
