Major
Russell A. Garman
has been a
member of the Clark County Sheriff's Office over the past 25
years, beginning his career in 1980. He is currently the
Operations Commander for the Sheriff’s Office.
Over the past 25 years, he
has been assigned to the Jail Division, Uniform Patrol
Division, Criminal Investigation Division and the Sheriff's
Special Investigation Section. Prior to Major Garman's
promotion as Operations Commander he served as the Division
Commander for the Investigative Division. He also has
been a Sergeant in the Uniform Patrol Division and
Investigation Section.
Major Garman received an
Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement
Technology from Clark State Community College and will be
attending Urbana University in pursuit of a Bachelors Degree
in Criminal Justice.
During Major Garman's career
at the Clark County Sheriff's Office he has received the
Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Award, VFW
Post 3660 Law Enforcement Award, Award of Outstanding
Achievement in "Outstanding Public Service" from the
Springfield Association of Life Underwriters and the Law
Enforcement Award for Distinguished and Dedicated Service by
the Optimist International. Major Garman has received
several commendations from Sheriff Kelly for meritorious
service and life saving.
