SPRINGFIELD, OH (DEC. 27, 2018) – The Board of Clark County Commissioners finalized its partnership with the city of Springfield for its downtown parking garage, contributing $1 million to the project at Thursday’s meeting.
“This will be a catalyst in the continued revitalization of downtown Springfield,” Commissioner Lowell McGlothin said. “It’s the first step in creating new jobs that will bolster the economy.”
Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize a contract with the Community Improvement Corporation, who will oversee the county’s contribution to the project.
The parking garage is being proposed at the Springfield-owned lot on the corner of Columbia Street and Fountain Avenue. The city recently approved a $50,000 contract for design and construction concepts for the garage.
The commission initially agreed to contribute to the project in May of 2018.
