SPRINGFIELD, OH (JULY 22, 2020) ─ The Board of Clark County Commissioners and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office have started a new initiative to provide a stronger voice to minorities about law enforcement standards in our community.
“Recent events in our country have made us more aware of the biases that threaten the lives of minorities and all of our citizens,” said Clark County Commissioner Melanie Flax Wilt. “We want to ensure that Clark County is a community where all residents have safe and equal protection under the law.”
Flax Wilt, Clark County Sheriff Deb Burchett, Chief Deputy Jeff Meyer, Clark County Assistant Administrator Michelle Noble and local residents Carl Ruby and Samina Ahmed worked together to create the Clark County Law Enforcement Advisory Team.
“The Clark County Sheriff’s Office strives to protect and serve this community with the utmost respect and to treat everyone equally,” Burchett said.
Commissioners passed a resolution on July 22 confirming the creation of the new initiative. Details on membership will be finalized at a later date.
