SPRINGFIELD, OH (SEPT. 23, 2020) – A school safety program created by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Board of Clark County Commissioners will bring a dedicated school resource officer to the Global Impact STEM Academy and the Clark County Educational Service Center during the 2020-2021 school year.

The Board of Clark County Commissioners approved a fifth school resource officer at the Global Impact STEM Academy and the Clark County Educational Service Center at its Wednesday, Sept. 23 commission meeting.

GISA and the Clark County ESC will each pay $26,000 as part of the $52,000 contract. The deputy will spend a portion of the day at each facility. The CCSO will pick up the remaining costs for the deputy.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer program also partners with Clark-Shawnee, Northwestern, the Springfield Clark Count Career Technical Center and Tecumseh to place an officer on their campuses throughout the day. The Sheriff’s Office also employs an Educational Service Officer, who visits other county schools throughout the day.
