SPRINGFIELD (Sept. 14, 2021) -- Beginning Oct. 15, Clark County Utilities Department customers in the areas of Garden Acres, Holiday Hills and Maplewood will receive their water and sewer service directly from the City of Springfield.
The Clark County Utilities Department currently purchases water and sewer services from the City of Springfield for customers in those areas. Beginning in December, Springfield will begin directly billing those customers for water and sewer service.
Customer bills will stay the same or slightly decrease each month depending on the type of service and monthly water usage. The transfer to the city will connect customers to a much larger system and will help lessen future rate increases necessary to maintain and improve service in those areas. The connection to Springfield’s system may also provide other benefits, including increased water pressure and fire protection.
The transfer will not affect current customers of the private Garden Acres Water Company.
Customers being transferred to the city will receive a flyer in the mail from the Utilties Dept., including information on how to update automatic payment information.
